Dwight Fire Protection District encourages you to check your smoke alarms when you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time, Sunday March 10th.

* According to the @NFPA, 2/3 of home fire deaths result from broken smoke alarms. Check yours when you change the clock! #IAFFSafetyTips
* When adjusting for Daylight Saving Time, make sure you are always checking your smoke alarms! #IAFFSafetyTips
* Smoke alarms with non-replaceable 10-year batteries are designed to remain effective to up to 10 years. If the alarm beeps, warning that the battery is low, replace the smoke alarm right away. #IAFFSafetyTips
* Your fire fighters encourage you to always test your smoke alarms when you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time. #IAFFSafetyTips
* Make sure to always replace your smoke alarm every 10 years. Don’t see a date on the back? Replace it! #IAFFSafetyTips
* Your fire fighters recommend you install a smoke alarm in every bedroom, outside of bathrooms, near stairwells and on each floor of your home. Make sure you mount them at least 12 inches from wall or corner when mounting on ceilings and at least four inches from the wall/ceiling line when mounting on walls. #IAFFSafetyTips
* For best protection, interconnect all smoke alarms. When one alarm sounds, they all sound. #IAFFSafetyTips
* Check your smoke alarms when you change your clocks for Daylight Saving Time. Press and hold – you should hear a loud beep if it is good. #IAFFSafetyTips
