For the last three years Dwight has been participating in the Chicagoland Toys For Tots Parade. This year was a special year for it was the 40th annual Toys for Tots parade.
Firefighter Frank Dizonno has been participating in the parade for the last 17 years. This year he was accompanied by Firefighters Eric Potter and Charlie Ealy. Dwight 1812 and its crew left Dwight at 4:30am to meet with Santa, the Elves and their motorcycles at the North Pole. They escorted Santa and the Elves with River Grove Police, Elmwood Park Police, Cook County Sheriffs, the River Grove Fire Dept, and The North Pole Fire dept (yes, Santa has his own Fire Dept.) to the start of the parade, at the Dan Ryan Woods, off of 83rd and Western where they met up with the motorcyclists from around the Chicagoland area. This year the official count was over 86,000 motorcycles. Yes, you read that correctly. 86,000+ motorcycles left the Dan Ryan Woods and went north on Western Avenue to Devry University where they met with The United States Marine Corps. They loaded all of the toy donations into semi trailers to be sorted and handed out to sick and underprivileged children across Illinois.
